Day 7 – My first week travelling has gone by so quickly!
My last stop this week was in Singapore. Unfortunately due to wet season (there is no rain season here apparently) I was only able to go sightseeing for one day but wow do I love Singapore. I’m so glad I came back here and I might come back before going home if anyone would like to sponsor that 😂
After a 12 hour nap (don’t judge my still student like ways) I first visited the Red Dot Design Museum. It was not originally on my list but because of the rain I took shelter there and it turned out to be very interesting!
The museum is based on technology and design and how humans and technology work together. The good and the bad sides to it dicussed aswell which was interesting to read/see.
Once I finally stopped feeling dizzy from a VR video, I took off and walked to the Marina Bay shopping centre. Feeling completely out of place next to all the ridiculously expensive brands I made my way to the observation deck which sat at the top, 57 floors up.
Looking over Singapore is a wonderful experience. This city has so much to offer and will always be one of my favourite places to visit.
Viewing the sky scrapers, the Merlion, the river, the gardens & the docks it was time for a refreshment. Cocktails (it had to be 5 o’clock somewhere 🤷♀️) and bbq chips at Ce La Vie at the top of the Marina Bay Sands was delicious.
The view that went with it was an extreme plus and I got to see the oh so famous infinity pool which definitely made me jealous of the guests who got to swim in it… maybe next time I can stay here if anyone wants to sponsor me? Haha
After Marina Bay Sands it was time to visit the Gardens Of The Bay.

I have always wanted to see this and I can safely say it definitely was worth it. Unless you don’t like nature and all that then maybe it’s not for you… but for me, i’m so glad I did go!
First I walked around for ages, literally hours as I was a little too early for the Cloud Dome & Flower Dome for which I bought tickets for, anyhoe’s what I loved most about the gardens was how much thought had gone into it.
From the tree’s that swallows up sunenergy and waters the rest of the garden to the history lessons in the mini gardens such as: Malay, Indian, Chinese and Colonial gardens to the domes that provided such beautiful & stunning views.
Once I had visited the gardens, off I went to the Singapore Flyer. Basically this is the biggest ferris wheel in the world. 165 metres high.
Now I can hear you asking yourselves why on earth will I do this when I have a massive fear of heights?
To be honest I had no idea why I was doing it either but there we go….
When my heartrate finally came down to normal speed I took pictures from above and tried to enjoy the view without thinking to much about how much death would suck if our carrier decided to break off….
When the carrier came full circle back to the drop off I went to find food and boy did I find some.
I ordered crab in Chinese wine sauce with rice. Sounds yummy huh? Well I thought so too, that is until the waitress gave me gloves and then a cleansing bowl for my hands. At this point I was slightly (enormously) freaking out that I would have to open a crab whilst its eye’s, even though it was very much muerto (no thanks to me), were looking at me.
Now for those who know me well, know that I can’t even deal with having to peel the shells of shrimps with their heads and legs and ucky things, how in godsnaam will I be able to do that with a CRAB?!
Now whilst I was freaking out and telling all of this to my sister – much to her amusement – she told me that in order to do crack open – ulgh – a crab you need a pair of nutcrackers. I hadn’t received those so as I realised they must have the crab open already and everything I wouldn’t have to do any cracking – again ulgh.
Oooh boy was I wrong and 2 minutes later the waitress brought a nutcracker and special scissors to my table.
Now i’m proper freaking out and panickingly telling Rose that I ain’t doing it.
After ten minutes or so, she arrives with my dish. Now don’t get me wrong, it looked amazing.
But still I had to do all the work, which I did but it took painstakingly long as for one: I have never done it before. Two: didn’t have the strength most times in my itty bitty hands and three: it kept flying out of my hands due to it being slippery thanks to my gloves and me wincing whenever I had to crack – ulgh – the crabs legs… Poor waitress must of thought she was watching an animal documentary instead of a tourist eating a crab….
Anyhow’s once I finally had my crab it was time to go back to the gardens (yes I love it making unnecessarily harder for myself by going back and forth etc etc) to see the night show.
I will admit, it was a bit of let down due to all the hype that I’d heard about it but none the less still very cool to witness.

I happened to meet two dutch lads who also wanted to see the water show that started at ten pm and so we all went back to the Marina Bay Sands rooftop bar (I got free admittance thanks to meeting a wonderful waitress, perks of solo travelling) to enjoy the must stunning view of the nightlife and of course to watch the water and light show below.
Finally at midnight I arrived back at my room, absolutely drained but I will admit that I have gained so much already in such a short period of time.
I’m learning so many new things about myself, some things/traits I thought I knew but have been confirmed but also some new things. I have also met so many new people and I love having the opportunity to meet new people and hear all about them and their life story. It’s funny how much we can differ from each other and yet still find many similarities.
I can’t wait to see what the rest of my trip has to bring me!
Today I will be travelling to Bangkok ans going on a group trip throughout Thailand for two weeks and then off on my own again touring around the rest of Thailand.
Will keep you posted!
Lots of love,
G.
